FLOWING
IN THE SPIRIT
by
Lenny Antonsson
There is a
place in God where we start seeing the difference between the
spiritual and the natural. Just like the Bible says, we're in the
world, but we're not of the world. It's the same thing with the
physical. We are in the physical, but we're not of the physical. In
Romans 7, verse 5, in the very first phrase there, Paul says,
"When I was in the flesh;" he is saying that he is not in the
flesh anymore. He is living in the flesh, but he's not of the flesh
and here is where we have to understand the difference between the
two. It doesn't come right away to a young Christian. It's something
that we have to mature into. A mature Christian can understand that
all the natural things are natural things and we have to function in
them: going to work, buying food, having children. These are natural
things, but this is not where we live. We live and move and have our
being in God. (Acts 17:2). There is a difference here. We are in the
flesh, but we are not of the flesh. I don't know if this makes sense
to you yet, but this is what God is showing me, that there is a
place here where we can function in the spiritual. The mortal
becomes immortal. We are flowing into that. I believe that God has
brought us to a place where have evolved far enough spiritually so
that we can see the kingdom of God. Jesus said to Nicodemus, "You
must be born again to see the kingdom of God" (Jn. 3:3) and
that's what we are seeing now, the kingdom of God, because we have
matured in God.
A child in
God or a young person in God cannot see the kingdom of God. They are
too busy with themselves. They are still too much involved in the
natural things, in the flesh, and there's nothing wrong with that.
It takes time to mature, but when we are mature in God, we see the
kingdom of God. We see Him operating. The kingdom of God is where He
is totally in authority over everything. He flows in power and
dominion, and there is no hindrance. We see that clearly. He is
totally omnipresent; totally omniscient; totally almighty; totally
sovereign. In that place, when we see that, we function differently.
We operate totally differently because we know that God is all in
all (Eph. 4:6). From this place, we now do things differently than
we did before because we have total trust in God, total faith in
God. We are gradually starting to come into the Sabbath rest of God.
God worked for six days and on the seventh day, He rested, and this
is the Sabbath rest that we are coming into: seeing God clearly,
hearing God clearly, understanding God clearly, so that we can
function in that place and be a blessing to others in that very
area. Now, I am not talking about being a blessing to people the way
the organized church goes about it. I'm not talking about that, that
we have to have programs and Sunday school classes and teachers. I'm
talking about a place in God where God tells us and flows through us
and does through us. We don't do for God. The organized church has a
system where they have to "do for God" to please Him. They are not
sons of God, but servants. Jesus said, "Henceforth I call you not
servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth; but I
have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my
Father, I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I
have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth
fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall
ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you." (Jn.
15:15-16). A son of God is "an heir of God, and joint heirs with
Christ," (Rom. 8:17) not "doing to become," or doing to help
God, but by faith as the Holy Spirit leads us unto people, leads us
into circumstances, we flow with God and function in God. It is
totally different than how the organized church operates. If there
is someone that God wants us to bless in whatever way, or to help in
whatever way, God shows us and we flow in the Holy Spirit and do it
as He shows us. If He doesn't show us anybody or any work to do,
we're like the prophets of old; we go home and plow the field until
God talks to us again. This is what it's all about. We have to
realize that as the world has become more and more educated, they
are more and more depending on their minds to tell them what to do,
how to operate. Paul tells us, "Do not conform any longer to the
pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is,
his good, pleasing and perfect will" (Rom. 12:2). Paul gives us
the end result of this transformation: "'For who has known the
mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of
Christ" (I Cor. 2:16). It is with the mind of Christ that we see
the kingdom of God everywhere around us. And it is with the mind of
Christ that we flow in His Spirit in everything we do and see and
are. As we hear Him speak, we speak. As we see Him doing, we do
likewise through His power. With the mind of Christ, we enter the
Sabbath rest of God and cease from our own labors (Heb. 4:9-10)
